I believe being a 5th generation Williamsburg resident gives me an advantage.
— Denise Fleischmann

Denise Fleischmann is a true local with a green thumb for gardening and cultivating happy clients.

"For over 5 generations, Williamsburg/James City County has been home to my family;' says Denise. "My Mom has a large family, and almost all live in Williamsburg. My great grandparents divided one large parcel between their children, so my neighbors were mostly family. I feel lucky to have grown up in that special neighborhood. I have 31 cousins, all are grown now and have their own families, and most live right here in Williamsburg, too."

"Williamsburg is home to me, and to my family," says Denise. "Both of my children graduated from Lafayette High School, the same high school that I did. They also both graduated from Christopher Newport University in nearby Newport News. My daughter received her Master's Degree from the College of William and Mary, also here in Williamsburg. They both have chosen to live in Williamsburg. It is true what they say - there is no place like home!"

"I believe being a 5th generation Williamsburg resident gives me an advantage;' says Denise. "I know the area in many different contexts. I've seen the area as a child, through the eyes of my parents and grandparents, as a parent myself, and now through the eyes of my own children.”

Denise has worked with clients of all kinds since becoming a REALTOR in 1987, but her specialty is rural properties.

"I live on a 10-acre farm in Toano;' says Denise. "We moved there 25 years ago so my children could grow up on a large rural property like I did. My kids grew up with space to keep their own horses at home, to ride motorcycles, play baseball and paintball, build tree forts, and help raise chickens, turkeys, guineas, and ducks. We also had a large garden and grew our own pumpkins, gourds, and vegetables. We loved 4H and showing our animals at the State Fair. We love the country life! Rural properties really appeal to me."

As a Master Gardener, Denise is a natural. "I was in the Toano Garden Club for 10 years," says Denise. "I love gardening! I love nurturing something, watching it grow and bloom.”

Denise shows that same care and attention to her clients. "I always go the extra mile to treat my clients the way I hope that I would be treated” says Denise. As an example, she offers her clients sage advice to help them find their perfect home. "I always tell my clients, if they fall in love with a house during the day, I want them to go back in the evening. Be sure to visit on a weekday and a weekend. Neighborhoods change at different times of day and different days of the week. You may see and hear things that affect you that the seller might not think to mention."

When not working with clients, Denise likes to volunteer. She has served on many committees in multiple community organizations and really likes giving back. “My family has been in the Williamsburg area for over 120 years and I want to continue to see the area prosper.”

Denise offers Williamsburg tours as part of her business. “My husband served in the Marines, so I have been the military wife in the strange city and I know how comforting it can be, to get to know your neighbors and feel a part of the community.” The tour helps folks to get to know the area faster and be able to focus on the activities they are interested in.

"This is such a unique and wonderful location," says Denise. "Having grown up here and frequented the historic triangle's attractions that bring history to life, I feel like part of a living museum."

Denise feels lucky to help her clients explore this beautiful area and find the home where their life will bloom.
